In 2020 the German Institute for Human Rights (Germany's NHRI) published a handbook on climate change and human rights.
The Handbook aims to
- Advocate for the essential role of NHRIs to support human rights-based climate action at all levels
- Reinforce monitoring and accountability mechanisms, by identifying key challenges in designing and implementing climate change policies and measures,
- Highlighting the gaps that need to be addressed, and,
- Identifying good practices from NHRIs across the globe.
